Bigscreen offers an app with which you can watch movies and TV with friends in VR. But the ambition for this brand expands beyond offering a VR experience. Now they’ve announced Bigscreen Beyond, a slim VR headset that should be six times smaller than competing VR headsets, mainly due to the use of pancake optics. The new VR device should be available in Q3 of 2023.
Bigscreen was released in 2016 as an app to watch TV and movies in VR. Also, gamers could stream their favorite game in their virtual world. But Bigscreen is ready to take the next step. They’ve unveiled their own VR headset, called Bigscreen Beyond. According to the company, the slim VR headset should be six times smaller than competitive VR devices. That’s mainly due to the use of pancake optics.
Slim VR headset promises sharp and smooth visuals
The dual 1-inch OLED displays with a resolution of 5120×2560 have a refresh rate of up to 90Hz and a total weight of 127 gram. All this should lead to sharp and smooth visuals. It’s not just for using Bigscreen, the VR device is compatible with StreamVR and its catalog of AAA games and apps. It works in tandem with Steam VR base stations, controllers, and accessories, such as Valve index controllers, Tundra Tracker, and HTC Vive Tracker.
