Dassault Systèmes and BMW Group will collaborate on the development of a new engineering platform for BMW, centered on Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This platform will be used for the development of vehicles based on Digital Twins, a technology that makes it possible to create virtual replicas of physical objects and use them for simulations and analyses.
More than 17,000 BMW employees, from various technical disciplines, will use this platform. The aim is to accelerate the vehicle development process, from idea to production. By using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and Digital Twins technology, BMW aims to shorten the time-to-market of their products while increasing quality and sustainability.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform will serve as the core system in BMW’s future product development. All engineering teams will work with a virtual twin of each vehicle model, including its different variants, using real-time, integrated data. This makes it possible to reuse components more efficiently, control the complexity of model variations and reduce development time. BMW will also be able to transfer data from existing IT systems to the platform and expand it with additional disciplines such as modeling and simulation.
