The Swiss company Ostloong introduced smart ski goggles Sirius during CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas in January 2023. These ski goggles based on OUTDOOR AR technology developed by Ostloong, use augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) to share information about slopes, potential hazards and other skiers and snowboarders. The ski goggles even allow users to live stream, promises Ostloong.
Speaking to Swiss platform Startupticker.ch, Amber Gao, the CEO of Ostloong Innovations, says: “This is a huge yet outdated market that can benefit from integrating new technologies to revolutionize the world of snow sports. And to connect these technologies to a new generation of skiers who are adept at using smartphones and social networks.”
Smart ski goggles for filming
The slim ski goggles are called Sirius – AR goggles. They are equipped with GPS, built-in cellular data, and an HD camera to live stream the descents. The ski goggles are based on the OUTDOOR AR technology developed by Ostloong, an AR system that is specially designed for outdoor use. Of course, the goggles also serve the purpose for which normal ski goggles are developed, namely safety and clear vision.
A standard and pro version of the slim ski goggles will be available from February 2023.
