To support educators with a total solution for digital learning, ViewSonic has further developed its education technology solution UNIVERSE. This virtual campus is a learning platform that combines in-person learning with an online environment. Now they’ve added Thematic Classrooms where participants can interact with 3D environments, such as biological structures such blood platelets and nerve cells.
The new iteration on UNIVERSE by ViewSonic was revealed at the British Educational Training and Technology (BETT) Show 2023. The company also showcased pre-made digital lesson content from ViewSonic Originals, as well as the latest ViewBoard interactive displays and myViewBoard software suite. All platforms together should provide educators with a total solution for digital learning.
Virtual campus UNIVERSE to immerse students
Kevin Chu, director of UNIVERSE Business Unit at ViewSonic, said: “While we’ve seen increased digitization in education, the technology being used doesn’t necessarily make full use of what is possible. We want educators to see just how powerful a 3D virtual campus can be when incorporated into digital learning. With UNIVERSE, students and teachers can harness the latest and most innovative technologies to enhance online learning.”
ViewSonic has launched UNIVERSE in 2022. This virtual learning platform combines in-person learning with an online environment. The platform has intuitive controls and diverse features. This way, UNIVERSE has been helping to increase student engagement, encourage collaboration, and foster a sense of belonging. Now, ViewSonic added Thematic Classrooms to UNIVERSE to improve the classroom experience.
Virtual classrooms with a theme
The virtual classrooms revolve around themes such as biology. There, students can explore interactive 3D environments built to help them learn about specific subjects. In the biology class, for example, students can learn about blood platelets and nerve cells. According to ViewSonic this is a more immersive way of understanding how these elements function in the body. Other themes will be English, math, geography and history.
Also, a new Portfolio tools was added to UNIVERSE. With this tool, teachers can get access to class insights, such as test results, attendance and participation. Also, with the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) integration, educators can exchange information between UNIVERSE and Learning Management Systems (LMS). This way, the platform needs to offer a seamless experience to both teacher and student.
