Media group Vivendi has opened the doors to its clubhouse in The Sandbox, an interactive virtual world. The opening of the clubhouse is part of the “French Weeks” event, where French partners of The Sandbox can explore the metaverse. The immersive experience allows players to engage with Vivendi’s various businesses through a scavenger hunt for seven components.
Vivendi, the French content, media, and communications group, has opened the doors to its clubhouse in the metaverse of The Sandbox, one year after acquiring a plot of land in the virtual world. The clubhouse has been built in partnership with Havas Play agency and offers an immersive experience for players to discover the group’s various business segments. The move is part of Vivendi’s ongoing exploration of the metaverse and its aim to become a leading player in the future of entertainment.
“Building the Vivendi clubhouse and developing this first experience in The Sandbox speaks to Vivendi’s keen interest in the metaverse,” said Félicité Herzog, Senior Vice President Strategy and Innovation at Vivendi. “Innovation is at the heart of Vivendi’s strategy: this shared experiential space enables our group to test, to learn from the community of players, and to apply our creativity in what will be one of the communication platforms of tomorrow.”
Interactive scavenger hunt in The Sandbox
As part of the launch of its clubhouse, Vivendi has created an interactive scavenger hunt in The Sandbox. Players will search for seven components, each representing a core business of Vivendi. Those who collect all seven components will receive a “skin” (an avatar customisation component) and will be drawn to win one of the many “golden tickets” to a forthcoming major event in The Sandbox.
“The metaverse is a playground that is both infinite and perpetually under construction; as such, we remain humble in our approach and wish to develop our presence step by step, together with our audience, so we may become a recognised entertainment player in this environment for the long term,” said Stéphane Guerry, President & CEO of Havas Play.
Vivendi’s future in the metaverse
Vivendi’s move to the metaverse follows its ongoing exploration of new forms of entertainment and its commitment to innovation. The Sandbox is a virtual world that enables players to create, share, and monetize their own gaming experiences, and Vivendi’s entry into the space represents its interest in the growing trend towards immersive, interactive experiences.
“We are delighted to host Vivendi’s first experience at the “French Weeks” and to witness how The Sandbox contributes to the group’s innovation strategy with new forms of entertainment,” said Sébastien Borget, Co-founder & COO of The Sandbox.
The Vivendi clubhouse is open from March 23, 2023, and can be accessed here. More information about Vivendi’s interest in the metaverse can be found here.
